MacBook Pro, i7 2.0GHz Quad Core, OSX, 4GB (2x2GB) 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM, 500GB Serial ATA 5400 rpm, 15.4" LED backlit glossy widescreen display 1440x900, Intel HD Graphics 30005 and AMD Radeon HD 6490M with automatic graphics switching, 8x SuperDrive, 802.1 Overview: Carved from a single block of aluminum, the MacBook Pro is a true engineering achievement. Its patented unibody enclosure is the product of precise machining. From the thumbscoop to the now-you-see-it-now-you-don't sleep indicator, no detail is unaccounted for. The end result is a notebook that's not only breakthrough, but thin, light, polished, and refined. The unibody also makes MacBook Pro more durable than ever. So you can throw it in your briefcase or messenger bag and pull it out at an airport, at school, at the office, or on location without a second thought. Every MacBook Pro has a pristine LED-backlit display with wide-angle viewing and a color gamut usually seen only on a desktop display. So whether you're watching a movie or making one, you've got the perfect canvas. The ultrathin, seamless glass enclosure makes the display strong and durable. And because it's power efficient and free of mercury and arsenic, this display is greener than ever. Each MacBook Pro comes standard with a large hard drive, so there's plenty of room for your photo libraries, video projects, and files. MacBook Pro also features ample high-speed memory, so you can run more applications at once and quickly access your data and media.

Goodbye Windows!

Boot time after a complete shutdown is about 30 to 45 seconds, even with tons of software. Shutdown is maybe 10 seconds! You can close the lid to put it to sleep, open the lid and voila! No waiting! (My one-year-old top-of-the line Win7 laptop grinds away, installs updates, gives me constant popups saying I have to deal with this or that--by which time I've forgotten what I was going to do when I turned it on. It's fast! It's clean! Once you get used to the interface it's delightful that it stays out of your way. Everything works. I get 5-6 hours of graphics work done without a recharge. I've even found a substitute for OneNote that works for me: Scrivener. It's intended as a writing program, but I like it because I can get in quickly to save notes, import a web page or image or sound file, and organize everything easily. For longer projects it's thoughtfully designed and intuitive to use. It doesn't have the colors and tabs of OneNote, but has all the functionality. Amazon doesn't sell it, but they should. MacWorld just voted it one of the must-have apps.

Simply the best!

This Macbook Pro 15" 2.66GHz i7 is simply the best laptop computer I have ever used. Fast, drop dead gorgeous design and incredible attention to build detail. I have a 24" iMac 2.4GHz core 2 duo as a desktop that I always thought was a very fast machine but my new Macbook Pro blows this away. My wife has a 13" 2.4Ghz Mac that she loves, as does my daughter that I had previously bought for them - now I can sit outside with them using MY laptop:) The glossy display is incredibly sharp and colourful, the glare or reflection that I have seen other reviewers criticise is a non-issue for me. I swapped out the supplied 4Gb ram for 8Gb as soon as I got the machine which in my opinion makes it just hum, whatever I throw at it. The keyboard is excellent, the same feel as using the Apple wireless keyboard, plus backlighting (adjustable) is a great feature, and the trackpad is sublime especially combined with a great free app called BetterTouchTool that extends the gesture controls nearly infinitely. SO good in fact that I retired my new Magic Mouse and bought the Magic Trackpad to use with my iMac. The only problem I have is now I think I will have to get the new iMac 27" i7 so I can restore proper parity - I mean a desktop SHOULD out perform a laptop shouldn't it? :) I am one very happy customer. If anyone is looking at buying a new laptop, either a Mac or Windows user - you will not regret buying this amazing and beautiful machine.

Macbook Pro i7 2.66 Gz

Works well for everything I need it to do including the Adobe Suite and Corel Painter 11. Maintains good battery life under most conditions and I use it for note taking all day and editing during breaks. Otherwise I keep the computer plugged in. The heat generated is not too bad, but it can warm up quickly. I would suggest upgrading your own RAM and everything is good. I expect to upgrade to a SSD when the time is right. But let's see what the refresh is coming, but getting this computer will ease the pain of all those new Apple lovers buying the new intro model in the Spring and bragging they have the best computer in the world. I hate the Mac vs PC thing, but I use this computer for many things and it has not let me down, I recomend it because of the reiable brand & it works well; not because I am an "Apple Lover..."
